L’Arrivée
San Francisco, CA
The Arrival sets the tone for the home, offering a first glimpse into the sensibility and experiences that unfold beyond the threshold. Conceived as a sequence rather than a single moment, the entry reflects how historic San Francisco houses were traditionally experienced, moving from intimacy at the entry into a more open and expansive interior. A tented entry creates a quiet pause before the space opens into a coffered hall, establishing a feeling of anticipation and welcome from the outset.
An ode to the past while looking firmly toward the future, the room balances European elegance with a contemporary San Francisco sensibility. Soft pale green paneling and classical proportions meet a tonal stone checkerboard floor that recalls the working ateliers of Paris couture houses. Kendall Wilkinson’s new collection with latesta introduces sculptural modern forms, while the pleating of the Ainsley chandelier draws directly from sartorial fashion, informed by a recent Paris visit and time spent with la Galerie Dior. Select pieces from latesta add tactile, architectural depth. More than an entry, this room signals a way of living and invites visitors into everything that follows.
