Kendall Wilkinson Design, an award-winning interior design firm located in San Francisco, is seeking a highly motivated, seasoned, and enthusiastic Senior Designer to be a part of our creative and vibrant studio team. Our ideal candidate has 10 years of experience in high-end residential design, including construction and renovation projects, and in-depth knowledge of drafting, space planning, product development, showrooms, and custom furniture design. The Senior Designer will work under the Founder and Design Principals to coordinate and drive all phases of innovative residential interior design from initial design concept to installation. A KWD Senior Designer has a passion for the design process, adept critical thinking and presentation skills, and the desire to collaborate with peers, clients, project partners, and vendors for a successful project and client experience. SENIOR DESIGNER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and drive all phases of high-end, residential interior design from initial design concept to installation

Take a leadership role working with the Senior Project Manager on project scope, scheduling, and budget requirement of each project

Represent KWD at meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and vendors, and relay relevant information to the design team

Effectively communicate design vision and aesthetic to junior staff members

Work with Senior Project Manager to delegate tasks and oversee design team progress to meet project schedules

Prepare floor, space, and furniture plans and elevations in AutoCAD, and produce hand drawings or computer renderings that communicate design intent

Confer with vendors, Design Principals, and other designers during all stages of product development to ensure accurate production

Prepare and maintain interior design plan documents such as finish schedules, specifications, product/room matrices, templates, schedules, and shop drawings

As needed, prepare and issue proposals in coordination with Senior Project Manager

Coordinate installation timelines with Project Coordinator and Senior Project Manager and attend installations

Maintain all project-related information in paper filing systems, electronic folders, and Studio IT
-
Demonstrate effective communication and professional managerial skills
-
Develop long-term relationships with clients, design showrooms, and vendors

Display a thorough knowledge of trade resources and continue to stay abreast of industry trends and changes

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

This position functions under the direct supervision of the Design Principal(s).
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
-
4-year degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
-
A minimum of ten to twelve years of experience in high-end residential design, including construction and renovation projects

Experience coordinating a design team and effective delegation of responsibilities to meet project needs and deadlines
-
Experience working on multiple projects with specified budgets and timelines
-
Experience and comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Strong technical knowledge of cabinetry, tile and stone installations, custom furniture, finishes, and other fabrications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Display a history of successful interior design implementations and a refined sense of style
-
Outstanding technical and historical knowledge of design genres and antiques/vintage vendors (an ideal skill)

Creative problem-solving, organizational, and efficient time management skills

Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and/or other design programs
-
Proficiency in, or the ability to quickly learn Studio Designer

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including the creation and management of Excel spreadsheets

Ability to work within a team and proactively create harmonious and professional relationships

Willingness to observe company policies, procedures, and the instructions management

Ability to work comfortably and flexibly in a fluid environment with many changing priorities

Demonstrate a natural curiosity for acquiring new knowledge, skills, and education in the realm of interior design
